This site is dedicated to the memory of Betty Southwell.

Betty, who died on 18 August 2009 aged 89, had been a lifelong supporter and fund raiser for Asthma Research having suffered from the condition herself and watching her grandson, Ian, struggle as a small child. He was treated at Booth Hall Hospital, Manchester by Professor Holzell a pioneer in this field of medicine. The Professor led the research team at Manchester University which developed Intal in the late sixties/early seventies. Ian was one of the first children to be given this drug and he has been able to live a full sporting life ever since.
